Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the four-day Deputy Commissioners’ (DC) Conference-2026 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday (3 May).
Earlier, at around 10:20am, the Prime Minister set out on foot from his office at the Secretariat and arrived at the venue at 10:30am.
People standing on both sides of the road greeted the Prime Minister, and he responded by waving at them.
The conference is organised every year to discuss, provide guidance and take decisions on various proposals related to the government's policies, development programs and public interest of the field administration.
Earlier, Cabinet Secretary Md Nasimul Gani presented the details of this year’s DC conference at a press conference at the Secretariat on Saturday.
He said that a total of 1,729 proposals have been received from the field administration ahead of this conference. After scrutiny, 498 proposals have been included in the working paper. Out of which, the maximum 44 proposals are related to the healthcare department.
He also said that a total of 34 working sessions will be held in this conference.
According to sources from the Cabinet Division, during the conference, the divisional commissioners and DCs will pay courtesy calls and exchange views with the President, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chief Justice.
From these meetings, they will take necessary directions from the top people of the state regarding their work at the field level.
In addition, separate working sessions of the DCs will be held with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other commissioners and with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
