Bangladesh’s compound men’s archery team secured a spot in the final of the 2026 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament (Stage 1) following a dominant performance in the elimination rounds today.

The trio, comprising Nawaz Ahmed Rakib, Himu Bachhar, and Aishwarzo Rahman, overcame a tense quarterfinal against Malaysia that ended in a 231-231 draw. Bangladesh clinched the win in a shoot-off, outscoring Malaysia 30-27.

In the semifinals, they defeated Bhutan 232-228 to set up a gold-medal clash against Vietnam on March 27.

In individual events, Himu showed strong form in the compound men’s section, defeating Vietnam’s Dang Cong Duc 148-146 before narrowly losing his quarterfinal 146-147 to India’s Uday Kamboj.

In the women’s compound, Kulsum Akter Moni reached the quarterfinals by beating Thailand’s Kanyavee Maneesombatkul 145-142, though she later fell 143-147 to Arina Cherkezova.

The recurve teams faced tougher challenges, with the men’s team -- Rakib Mia, Abdur Rahman Alif, and Ram Krishna Saha -- falling to Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals after an initial 6-2 win over Vietnam.

Bangladesh continues its campaign tomorrow in the recurve and compound mixed team events.
