The seven-day government holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr ends on Monday. After this long break, offices, courts, banks, insurance institutions, and the stock market across the country will reopen from Tuesday (24 March).

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslim community, was celebrated in the country on 21 March. To mark the occasion, a total of seven days of general holidays were declared from 17 to 23 March. As a result, working people will begin returning to their respective workplaces from Tuesday.

However, full work momentum is not expected to resume immediately after the holidays. This is because there will be another government holiday on 26 March for Independence Day. Many employees have taken optional leave on 24 and 25 March, extending their holidays further. Along with the weekly holidays on 27 and 28 March, many people will return to work only after nearly two weeks.

For this reason, although offices and courts will operate partially this week, it may take some time for full-scale activities to resume. Normal work pace in the capital is expected to return from next week.

Meanwhile, in the newspaper sector, according to the declaration of the Newspapers Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (NOAB), there was a five-day holiday from March 19 to 23, which ends on Monday.
