Bangladeshi among 3 scientists to receive US vaccine award

Dr Senjuti Saha, a Bangladeshi medical scientist, is among three vaccinologists set to receive the prestigious Sabin Awards at the US National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, DC, on 12 May.

Sabin Vaccine Institute, which confers the annual award, announced the recipients for the 2026 edition in a statement on its website on Monday.

Senjuti will receive the prize as the 2026 Rising Star. The other two recipients, German scientists Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci, will receive the Albert B Sabin Gold Medal for developing the BioNTech-Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, which turbocharged the fight against the pandemic.
