The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has decided to significantly increase jet fuel prices.
At an emergency meeting held today (24 March), the commission decided to increase the jet fuel prices by nearly 80 percent at one go.
Senior officials from BERC, Padma Oil Company and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) were present at the meeting.
Under the new rates, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights will increase from Tk112.41 per litre to Tk202.29 per litre—an increase of Tk89.88, or around 80 percent.
A responsible official present at the meeting said the revised prices will come into effect from midnight on 24 March (early hours of 25 March). BERC is expected to issue an official notification later in the day.
For international flights, the price of jet fuel has been raised from $0.7384 per litre to $1.3216 per litre, marking an increase of nearly 79 percent.
