Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku has said that there is sufficient stock of fuel oil and there will be no shortage.
He made the statement on Tuesday morning at the Secretariat on the first working day after the Eid holidays.
The minister said that the recent situation arose mainly due to a sudden increase in demand for fuel. However, there is adequate stock, so he urged the public not to purchase excess fuel.
He said, “A gap has developed between demand and supply. Demand has increased. We have been supplying at the same rate, and that supply is continuing. When demand rises, a temporary crisis can occur. It’s a matter of common understanding.”
He further said that everyone will receive fuel according to their needs and there is no reason for concern. If people avoid buying more than necessary, the supply will remain stable.
He also mentioned that the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission works on fuel price adjustments, but the government has not increased fuel prices yet.
