Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Tuesday called upon police personnel to play a more effective role in maintaining law and order across the country.

He made the call while addressing an Eid reunion programme held at the Police Headquarters on the first working day after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

The IGP said members of all units including highway, traffic and district police, performed their duties with sincerity and dedication to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for homebound people during Eid.

During the event, the police chief exchanged Eid greetings with officers and personnel of all ranks posted at the Police Headquarters as well as civil staff.

Additional IGPs, heads of various Dhaka-based units and officials and employees of the Police Headquarters were present at the program.
