Three members of a same family were killed in a road accident in Bagharpara, Jessore. Three others were also injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 2:00am on Monday night at Gaidghat Bazar in Bandabila Union on the Jessore-Magura highway in Bagharpara upazila.
The deceased are: Majid Sardar (70) from Fatehabad village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore; his son Mahmud Hasan Zakaria Jony (43); and Jony’s four-year-old daughter, Seherish.
Three more people were injured in the accident and have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to police and local sources, the victims were returning to Monirampur in Jessore by private car from a relative’s house. On the way, when they reached Gaidghat on the Jessore-Magura road, the car lost control and crashed violently into a banyan tree.
Three people died at the scene. Upon receiving the news, police and fire service personnel rescued the victims and took them to Jessore General Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Zahid Hossain of Barobazar Highway Police Station in Jhenaidah said that the bodies were recovered at night and taken to the Jessore General Hospital morgue. As there was no complaint from the family, the bodies were handed over without an autopsy.
