Dhaka University deputy registrar Muhammad Lovelu Mollah has been arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act after a Facebook post following the International Crimes Tribunal verdict sentencing ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to death.
Lovelu was shown arrested in the case on Tuesday and sent to the court, said Shahbagh Police Station OC Mohammad Khalid Mansur.
He added, "A few days age, police filed a case in which evidence was found of Lovelu Mollah providing financial assistance for marches conducted by the banned Chhatra League. We have arrested him in connection with that case."
Shortly after the verdict was delivered, Lovelu had posted a photocard on his Facebook account, featuring Hasina’s image with the words: “I don’t care”, which led some students and members of Dhaka University’s proctorial team to visit his residence late at night.
OC Mansur said, "The university’s proctorial team and students brought Lovelu to the police station. After verification, it was decided that legal action would be taken against him."
