Members of the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and police have been deployed in front of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to ensure security following the conviction of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and two of her top aides.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) has been positioned near the High Court gate, where an army team remains stationed as part of the heightened security measures.

Authorities said the deployment aims to prevent any untoward incident and ensure smooth movement around the court premises.

In its first judgment on crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising, International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday sentenced Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death.

Hasina was found guilty of incitement, abetment, inaction, conspiracy, and superior command responsibility that led to the murder and torture of protesters across the country.

Former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who testified as an approver, was given five years in prison.
