Human Chain in Bajitpur Demands Removal and Arrest of Union Chairman

Residents of Maizchar Union in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj formed a human chain demanding the removal and arrest of Union Parishad Chairman Tabarak Mia.

The human chain was held on Tuesday (18 November) in front of the Maizchar Union Parishad office.

The program was conducted by Md. Kaiyum, where speakers included Member Don Mia, Member Ershad, Member Enam, Member Ali Akbar, Member Mamun, and local residents.

Speakers alleged that Tabarak Mia became chairman through vote rigging under the influence of the Awami League. They also accused him of corruption, extortion, and several other irregularities.

Following the fall of the “fascist government,” they said, Chairman Tabarak Mia has been absent from office since 5 August, causing severe disruption to all union-level activities and creating suffering for the general public.

They demanded that he be immediately removed and that an administrator or panel chairman be appointed to restore normal administration.

Maizchar UP Secretary Alamgir Hossain said, “I joined in August. Since my joining, the chairman has not attended the office even for a single day.”

Locals added that without the removal of Tabarak Mia, it would be impossible to normalize the administrative functions of the union. They urged the authorities to take prompt action for his immediate removal and arrest.
