A man allegedly slit his wife's throat and later, attempted to kill himself in Konabari of Gazipur city in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, over a conjugal conflict.

The victim, Rahima, 35, was the wife of Emran, 40, from Amtali village under Haluaghat police station in Mymensingh. The couple would live in a rented house in Konabari area.

Being informed by locals, the police recovered Rahima's body from their house in the early hours of today, said Konabari police station's sub-inspector Papon Hossain.

Initial indications suggest that the man first murdered his wife with sharp weapons and then, tried to cut his own throat, Papon said, adding that the man was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

The victim's daughter Sharmin Akter said her parents would often quarrel and they also argued with each other last night.

Getting no sound from inside the house, neighbours informed police about the matter, she added.
