The autopsy report of Tawshif Rahman Sumon, son of Rajshahi Metropolitan and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman, has confirmed that the 18-year-old died from excessive bleeding caused by a deep injury to his leg. There were also marks of strangulation on his throat.
Sumon was killed during an attack inside their Dabtola residence in Rajshahi city on Thursday. His mother, Tasmin Nahar, and the lone suspect, Limon Mia, were also injured and are currently receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). Limon remains under police guard.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (CTTC) Gaziur Rahman that the deep leg injury led to massive blood loss. "There were also marks of strangulation," he said, adding that no case has been filed yet.
According to the initial inquest report, the attacker entered the family's apartment by introducing himself as the judge's brother and began talking with Tasmin Nahar. An argument broke out soon after, during which he pulled out a knife, prompting her to lock herself in a room. Sumon, who had been sleeping nearby, rushed out when the assailant attempted to break down the door. A scuffle followed, during which the suspect allegedly strangled him.
A domestic helper, working for the family, managed to escape the apartment and alert neighbours.
Speaking briefly to journalists from his hospital bed, Limon claimed he had known Tasmin Nahar for five years.
Police also confirmed that Tasmin had filed a general diary (GD) in Sylhet on November 6, alleging that Limon had been demanding money and threatening the family.
