Commission wants to ensure level playing field for all: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has said that the Election Commission wants to ensure a level playing field for everyone in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

He said, “We will be facing the election very soon. To make the upcoming election acceptable and transparent, cooperation from all is necessary. The Commission wants to create a level playing field for all.”

The CEC made the remarks on Sunday (16 November) morning in his opening statement on the second day of the Election Commission’s dialogue with political parties.

During the event, the CEC urged all parties to adhere to the election code of conduct.

Starting from 10:30 am, the Election Commission began its dialogue at the conference room of the Election Commission building in Agargaon with six political parties, including Gono Forum.

The other parties taking part are—Gono Front, Islamic Front Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), and Bangladesh Jatiya Party.

Additionally, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Commission will hold discussions with Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Bangladesh Jasod), Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP), Trinamool BNP, Krishak Sramik Janata League, Bangladesh Khelafat Mojlish, and Islami Andolon Bangladesh. At present, 53 parties—including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami—are registered with the Election Commission.
