Man shot dead in broad daylight in Dhaka's Sutrapur

A man was shot dead in broad daylight in Dhaka's Sutrapur area this morning.

The identity of the deceased, aged around 50, could not be known immediately.

Fazlul Haque, assistant commissioner of Kotwali Zone Police, confirmed the incident to reporter.

Unidentified assailants shot him in the chest near Dhaka National Medical College Hospital, leaving him critically injured.

Mohibullah, ward master of Dhaka National Medical College Hospital, said that around 11:00am a shooting incident occurred in front of the hospital. Hearing the gunfire, staff members rushed to the main gate and saw the man lying on the street, bleeding. They immediately rescued him and brought him to the hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, he was quickly taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead around 11:45am, he added.
