Bangladesh has reduced domestic gold prices by up to Tk 3,266 per bhori, including value-added tax (VAT), the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The revised rates took effect at 10 a.m. on October 13.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold, the highest quality commonly used in jewellery, costs Tk 228,031 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.

The reduction followed an increase on October 9, when BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 to Tk 231,297 per bhori, including VAT.

At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 220,916 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 189,714 and traditionally produced gold at Tk 154,956.

BAJUS had previously cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,692 on October 5, bringing the rate to Tk 229,080 per bhori.

In an earlier adjustment on June 6, BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,482 to Tk 229,373 per bhori, citing a decline in the local price of pure gold.

The June adjustment also lowered the prices of 21-carat gold by Tk 5,249 to Tk 218,933 per bhori, 18-carat gold by Tk 4,490 to Tk 187,674 and traditionally produced gold by Tk 3,616 to Tk 152,857.

BAJUS said at the time that gold prices had been revised over 71 times in 2026, with increases on over 37 occasions and cuts on over 34.

The association adjusts domestic gold prices in response to changes in the local market price of pure gold and other market factors.
