Two people were killed and two others injured when an engine-driven trolley hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Pabna's Shanthia upazila this morning.
The deceased were identified as Md Mamun Hossain, 32, and Nanita Rani, 45.
Shanthia Police Station's Officer-in-charge (OC) Saidur Rahman said that the auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was going to Bera upazila from Kashinathpur. When the vehicle reached Mohishkola on Bogura-Nagarbari road, the bricks-laden trolley hit it from behind.
The auto-rickshaw passengers -- Mamun and Nanita -- died on the spot while the two injured passengers were taken to Bera Upazila Health Complex, the OC said.
Police rushed the spot and rescued the injured victims. However, the driver and the helper of the trolley managed to flee the scene.
