BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if the BNP comes to power, it will never enact any law that contradicts the Qur'an and Sunnah. He further stated that the country is currently going through a critical period. Certain groups are working from behind the scenes to destabilize the nation. Attempts are being made to sabotage the upcoming election. If our unity is destroyed, the country will suffer. Therefore, he urged everyone to remain vigilant and united.
He said this on Sunday afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a views exchange meeting with Islamic scholars at the Manab Kollyan Parishad in Thakurgaon town.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the Awami League passed various laws to make their power permanent. People were deprived of their rights. Religious scholars were labeled as militants, intimidated, and taken away. We have passed through that time. Now is the time to rebuild the country anew.
The BNP Secretary General said, "BNP's commitment is clear: we will not allow any law to be made outside the Qur'an and Sunnah. Yet some people are trying to spread confusion, claiming that we do not want to adhere to the Qur'an and Sunnah. But we have always stood—and still stand—in favor of the Qur'an and Sunnah."
During the meeting, discussions were held on the current political situation, social stability, the protection of religious values, and the responsibilities ahead.
Mirza Fakhrul said, "We must be very careful during this time. We must not fall back into darkness. We have to remain cautious so that we do not create division among ourselves and fall into the hands of conspirators, harming both the country and ourselves."
Calling the upcoming election extremely important, he said efforts are being made to break the anti-fascist unity centering the election, to sabotage the election. "We must ensure they cannot succeed in this attempt," he added.
Mirza Fakhrul said, "With great pain and sorrow, we remember our younger brothers, our children — Shahid (martyr) Osman Hadi, always. We remember Abu Saeed, Wasim from Chattogram — those who gave their lives in July. We also remember those who sacrificed their lives in the 1971 Liberation War."
The views exchange meeting was attended by District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poigam Ali, Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam Sharif, Sadar Upazila BNP President Abdul Hamid, General Secretary Mahbub Hossain Tuhin, Hafiz Maulana Mohammad Rashid Alam, Maulana Khalilur Rahman, along with Islamic scholars, Muhaddis, and party leaders and activists from across the district.
