The capital on Friday experienced a fall in the mercury, while a mild cold wave swept over some parts of the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
As temperatures fell in Dhaka, people thronged shopping malls and makeshift roadside stalls to buy warm clothes.
The elderly and children suffered from cold-related illnesses.
Dhaka saw the highest temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, while the lowest was 13.5 degrees Celsius.
The country's lowest temperature was recorded at 9.0 degrees Celsius in Jashore, with a mild cold wave felt across the district.
Apart from Jashore, a mild cold wave swept over Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, and Nilphamari, which might continue in some places, said the Met office.
It also said in its forecast that the weather might remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country on Saturday (today).
Moderate to thick fog might occur in places over the river basins, while there could be light to moderate fog elsewhere in the country from midnight to morning, said the forecast.
Night and day temperatures might remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
According to the Met office, a mild cold wave occurs when temperatures are between 8.1°C and 10.0°C. A moderate cold wave happens between 6.1°C and 8.0°C, a severe one between 4.1°C and 6.0°C, and a very severe one below 4.0°C.
