Two people were killed when a speeding bus ran over them on the Jamuna Bridge east link road in Tangail today.

The deceased are Abdul Halim of Kurshabenu village and Abdur Razzak Akand of Govindapur village in the upazila.

Sub-Inspector Taherur Islam of Jamuna Bridge East Police Station said the accident occurred around noon in the Jokarchar area when the two were heading to a nearby market in a battery-run auto-van.

A passenger bus struck them from behind, killing both on the spot, he added.
