Deaths of children from measles and symptoms hit 17 in the 24 hours till Monday morning, hitting the highest single-day toll for the second time in about 70 days, and raising the total toll to 545.
The previous highest single-day death toll was also 17, recorded on 4 May.
One death from confirmed measles diagnosis was recorded in Dhaka division. The rest were symptom related deaths: six in Dhaka division, three in Sylhet division, 2 in Chattogram division, 2 in Rajshahi division, 2 in Barishal division and one in Mymensingh division.
As many as 97 patients were infected with measles, while 1,127 others with related symptoms. Since 15 March, 8,719 were infected with measles cases, and 64,940 others with measles-like symptoms. Over the same period, 51,585 patients with symptoms were admitted to hospitals.
Since 15 March, 47,619 patients with either kind of infection were discharged from hospitals after recovery.
