Massive fire breaks out at cold storage in Chattogram

A major fire erupted at a cold storage facility in the Sagarika area of Chattogram city on Sunday, prompting an intensive response from the fire service.

Eight firefighting units are currently working to bring the blaze under control.

According to officials, the fire broke out around this noon and quickly engulfed the entire warehouse, filling the surrounding area with thick smoke.

Md Anwar Hossain, Assistant Director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence told that eight firefighting units were immediately dispatched from the nearest fire station to douse the fire.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be known immediately.

Rescue teams are also verifying whether any workers were trapped inside the cold storage. The fire has yet to be fully brought under control till filing this report.
