The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation in the Patenga area of Chattogram and seized 1,400 liters of diesel that was being transported for illegal marketing purposes.
Acting on confidential information, personnel from the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga carried out the operation at around 4:00 PM on June 1, 2026, near No. 9 Ghat under Patenga Police Station.
During the operation, the Coast Guard searched two engine-powered wooden boats and recovered approximately 1,400 liters of diesel worth around BDT 161,000. The fuel was allegedly being transported for illegal distribution and sale. However, the smugglers managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the law enforcement team, and no arrests could be made.
Legal procedures regarding the seized diesel and the two boats are currently underway. The Coast Guard stated that it remains committed to preventing smuggling and other illegal activities and will continue conducting such operations to safeguard the country's economic interests and maintain law and order in coastal areas.
