Chattogram Port’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) has achieved a historic milestone by recording the highest monthly container handling volume in its history during May 2026

The terminal, operated by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) under the supervision of the Chattogram Port Authority and managed by an organization controlled by the Bangladesh Navy, handled a total of 126,496 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) during the month. This marks the highest number of containers ever processed by the terminal in a single month, with an average daily handling rate of 4,081 TEUs.

According to port statistics, import containers accounted for 59,851 TEUs, while export containers totaled 66,645 TEUs, bringing the overall monthly handling volume to 126,496 TEUs. The achievement surpasses the previous record of 125,533 TEUs, which was set in October 2025.

CDDL officially assumed responsibility as the operator of the NCT on July 7, 2025. Since taking over operations, the terminal has experienced remarkable growth and increased operational efficiency. Personnel deployed by CDDL have been performing their duties with professionalism, dedication, and integrity at vessel operation points, delivery points, appraisal points, C&F sheds, and all entry and exit gates of the terminal. As a result, container loading and unloading activities have become significantly faster and more efficient.

Officials noted that the combined efforts of the Chairman, Members, officers, and employees of the Chattogram Port Authority and CDDL have played a crucial role in achieving this landmark success. The record-breaking performance is expected to further enhance the capacity of the country’s premier seaport and contribute positively to Bangladesh’s national economy and foreign trade.
