Fighting for life for 27 days, nine-year-old Huzaifa Afnan, who had been hit by gunshot from across the Myanmar border in Teknaf, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday morning while on life support.
She breathed her last at about 9:50AM at National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital where she had been undergoing treatment since January 13.
Huzaifa was the daughter of Jashim Uddin, a resident of Whykong Union near the border. She had gone to buy breakfast with her grandfather in the morning of January 11 when she was injured by a bullet from across the border. She was brought from Teknaf to Chattogram Medical College Hospital and later admitted to the ICU.
On January 13, she was transferred to Dhaka for specialized treatment after doctors were unable to safely remove the bullet lodged in her brain.
