A leader of National Citizen Party (NCP) was shot by miscreants in Khulna today.
The injured was identified as Motaleb Shikder, a resident of Sheikhpara Palli in Sonadanga, who serves as the Khulna divisional chief of the NCP and a central organiser of NCP Sramik Shakti.
Miscreants opened fire targeting his head around 11:45am near Gazi Medical College Hospital in the city, said Animesh Mondol, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Sonadanga Model Police Station.
He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Quoting doctors, the OC said Motaleb is out of danger. The bullet entered through one side of his ear, pierced the skin, and exited through the other side.
Earlier, an MP aspirant from Dhaka-8, Sharif Osman Hadi, suffered a critical head injury on December 12 after being shot by assailants in Dhaka's Paltan area. After receiving initial treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Evercare Hospital, he was airlifted to Singapore on December 15 for advanced medical care. He passed away at Singapore General Hospital on Thursday night (December 18).
