The interim government has appointed political scientist Prof Ali Riaz as a special assistant to the Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.
During his time in office, Ali Riaz would be entitled to the rank of a government adviser, and enjoy relevant pay structure as well as other benefits, the notification read.
Prof Ali Riaz teaches political science at the Illinois State University in the US.
After last year’s anti-fascist uprising, the newly formed interim government appointed Prof Ali Riaz as the chief of Constitution Reform Commission as part of efforts to push through state reforms.
In February this year, he was appointed the vice president of National Consensus Commission to forge political consensus on reform proposals.
