Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has questioned the neutrality of the interim government, saying that it has fallen into the trap of one party.
Speaking at a press conference this morning at Al-Falah Auditorium in Dhaka's Moghbazar, organised by eight parties engaged in the simultaneous movement, Taher made the remark in a reaction to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's address to the nation delivered on Thursday.
Taher said the government is attempting to bring one party to power, claiming that three advisers were misleading the chief adviser with "false messages." He said under such circumstances, a fair election would not be possible.
Without naming them, Taher demanded the removal of the three advisers, saying their names would be submitted to the chief adviser on behalf of the eight parties.
He also strongly criticised the government's decision to hold the national election and referendum on the same day, urging the chief adviser to announce a separate date for the referendum before the polls.
He warned that if the demands were not met, a final decision would be taken after discussions with top leaders of the eight-party alliance on November 16, based on their ongoing five-point movement.
