A youth hacked to death the son of a sessions judge at the judge’s home in Rajshahi city on Thursday afternoon. The judge’s wife was also critically injured in the attack.
Later, police managed to apprehend the attacker, confirmed Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Abu Sufiyan.
Around 3:30pm, Limon Mia, wielding a machete, abruptly entered the house of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman at Spark View Building under Rajpara Police Station.
At the house, Limon indiscriminately hacked Abdur Rahman’s son Tousif Rahman, 25, leaving him dead on the spot.
Abdur Rahman’s wife Tasnim Nahar was injured and later admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The attacker Limon was also admitted to the same hospital with some wounds, said RMP Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman.
Limon hails from Gaibandha, Gaziur confirmed. A preliminary review of the incident suggests it was done out of old enmity between multiple individuals or families, police said.
