Joint forces have arrested a former leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and his seven associates along with weapons in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila.
The arrested are Enamul Haque Molla, 48, former general secretary of Barmi union Chhatra Dal and his associates Shawkat, Meer, Zahid, Mostafa, Siddique, Bulbul and Tofazzal.
Enamul was arrested during a raid conducted at his house at Barkul village in the union last night, said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sreepur Police Station Junaid.
Based on the information given by Enamul, the joint forces arrested his seven associates from different areas of the union. During this time, two pistols, three magazines, four rounds of bullets, four walkie-talkies, four batons, two electric short machines, a hammer nail gun, and a knife were recovered from them, added the SI.
Enamul was expelled from BNP in 2001, said party sources.
