BSF pushes back nine Bangladeshis through Jashore border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed back nine Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, through the Mashila border in Chougachha upazila of Jashore last evening, shortly after a flag meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Mashila BGB Camp Commander Naik Subedar Farid Uddin said, "The BSF handed them over to us after a flag meeting at Bahera border in India at night. We have handed them over to Chougachha Police Station for further procedures."

The returnees are Abdur Razzak Khan, 42, of Saronkhola upazila in Bagerhat; his wife Khadija Akter, 32, and their son; Yasmin Khatun, 28, of Sylhet Sadar upazila; Razia Begum, 26, of Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur; Kajol Lipi, 38, of Mymensingh; Liton Khan, 23, of Dinajpur; Sunil Tudu, 24, of Dinajpur; and Jahangir Hossain, 20, also of Dinajpur.

One of the returnees, Abdur Razzak, said, "Some of us were staying in Goa, some in Haryana, and others in Uttarakhand. Police detained us there, handed us to BSF, and they later pushed us back to Bangladesh."

Chougachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain said, "Nine Bangladeshis were pushed back from India in the evening and brought to the police station. Legal procedures are underway."
