Bangladesh's young scientists have once again made history on the world stage. Four young scientists from Bangladesh have won gold medals in the robotics category at the World Innovation Competition and Exhibition (WICE)-2025 held in Malaysia. One of the members of the winning team is Pranchoy Tarafdar, a talented child of Sreemangal.

Thirty countries from around the world participated in this international competition held at Segi University, Malaysia from September 21 to 25. Amidst tough competition, the Bangladeshi team emerged victorious in the robotics category and took home the top honor of the gold medal.

The pride of Sreemangal

Pranchoy Tarafdar is currently a sixth class student at Sreemangal Victoria High School. Since childhood, he has had a strong interest in science, technology, and robotics. Due to his family's educational environment and self-effort, he was able to compete internationally at a very young age.

His father, Jahar Tarafdar, the headmaster of Chandranath Government Primary School, was overwhelmed by his son's success and said, "Pranchoy had a strong curiosity about science since childhood. Today, he has made Bangladesh shine through team research. As a teacher, this achievement of my child is the greatest pride of my life."

Pranchoy's mother, Putul Rani Sarkar, is the headmaster of Majdihi Government Primary School. She said in an emotional voice, "Pranchay's achievement is the result of his dedication and concentration. We have always supported him in fulfilling his child's dreams."

Pride of school and teachers

Ayan Chowdhury, the principal of Sreemangal Victoria High School, expressed his joy at this success and said, "Pranchoy is a very talented and hardworking student. His victory is not only the pride of the school, but of the whole of Bangladesh. His success will inspire other students to reach international standards as well."

A flood of joy across the country

As soon as the results of the competition were announced on the afternoon of September 24, a wave of excitement descended on Sreemangal. Educational institutions, teachers, students, guardians and local people were filled with joy. Various social organizations and well-wishers congratulated the family of Pranchoy.

Workers' Party leader Comrade Syed Amiruzzaman said, "This achievement by young scientists at the international event is a great honor for Bangladesh. The gold medal-winning team, including Pranchoy Tarafdar, has lit a new light of hope for the future of our country's science and technology sector."

New horizons in scientific practice

The World Innovation Competition and Exhibition (WICE) is one of the most prestigious innovation competitions in the world. The success of Bangladeshi teenagers here has not only brightened the image of the country, but also opened new horizons in advancing scientific practice and innovative power.

The people of Sreemangal, as well as Bangladesh, are now waiting for the big dream of future scientists to come true. The victory of these little scientists has proven that even at a young age, Bangladeshi students are capable of turning their dreams into reality on any global stage.
