Armed muggers snatched away Tk 55 lakh from a Nagad official in broad daylight at Kuada Jamtala intersection on the Jashore–Monirampur road on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred around 9 am when Rabiul Islam, manager of Nagad’s Jashore branch, was travelling in a private car after collecting the money from the company’s accountant, Kazi Mominur Islam. He was en route to Monirampur sub-branch to hand over the cash to another official, Abu Sajid.

As the vehicle reached Jamtala intersection, a group of armed robbers on motorcycles intercepted it. They smashed the car windows, dragged Rabiul out, physically assaulted him, and fled the scene with a bag containing the cash.

Rabiul sustained injuries in the attack and said the car was also damaged during the robbery. He confirmed that preparations are being made to initiate legal action.

Monirampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Babulur Rahman Khan said police have launched an operation to arrest the culprits and recover the stolen money.
