A case was filed with Sadarpur Police Station in Faridpur after a 50-year-old woman died following an alleged rape incident.
The victim's daughter filed the case, accusing former union parishad member Momrez Khalashi, 56, of Khalashi Dangi village in Akoter Char union of Sadarpur upazila, and two of his accomplices.
All three are currently on the run, said police.
Md Nazmul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadarpur Police Station, said the case was lodged last night under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. It names Momrez and two others and also accuses three to four unidentified individuals.
According to the case statement, the incident occurred around 3:00am on Saturday night at the victim's home. Momrez and his two accomplices allegedly entered the woman's house and raped her.
The victim fell seriously ill following the assault. Family members rushed her to a local hospital, where doctors declared her dead around 5:00am yesterday.
OC Nazmul Hasan said police are trying to arrest those accused in the case.
