Kalabagan Thana Awami League leader Nazrul Islam Sadhu arrested

The Melandha Thana police have arrested Nazrul Islam Sadhu, vice-president of the Kalabagan Thana Awami League in Dhanmondi, capital Dhaka, from Melandha in Jamalpur. He was arrested at around 4 am on April 17 from his ancestral residence in Sadhupur village of Melandha upazila and handed over to the Jamalpur court.

He was the director (retd) of Bangladesh Betar's Desh Amar Mati Amar Sonali Fasal program. It is also known that he was well-known in the area for his social activities and charity.

Officer-in-charge Shafiqul Islam said that he was arrested as a suspected accused in a political case and sent to court. Later, the learned court did not grant him bail and sent him to jail.
