At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured as a bus overturned and fell into a roadside ditch in Faridpur's Sadar upazila this morning.
The Faridpur-bound bus from Gopalganj fell into the ditch in Gerda union on the Dhaka-Barishal highway around 11:00am, said Hiramon Biswas, a sub-inspector (SI) of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station.
Atiar Rahman, the ward master of the hospital, said that when the injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, doctors declared five of them dead. Later on, two more succumbed to their injuries.
Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur district Md Kamrul Hasan Molla said a five-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
