A Sirajganj court on Wednesday granted a one-day remand for former lawmaker Md Abdul Aziz of Sirajganj-3 in connection with a case filed over an attack on an election rally of a BNP candidate in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj during the 2018 national election.
Sirajganj Judicial Magistrate Obaidul Haque Rumi passed the order following a five-day remand appeal, said Public Prosecutor Md. Humayun Kabir.
Earlier, Md Asaduzzaman Asad, president of Baruhash union unit BNP, filed the case against former MP Abdul Aziz, accusing him of attempting to murder.
According to the case statement, the motorcade of BNP candidate in Sirajganj-3 constituency Abdul Mannan came under attack during the 2018 election campaign. On February 3, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the former lawmaker from Kalabagan in the capital in connection with the case.
