BNP candidate Aliza Zaman has been elected unopposed to a vacant reserved seat for women in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, following the completion of the nomination and withdrawal process.

The Election Commission (EC) published a notification, signed by Mohammad Moin Uddin Khan, joint secretary of the Election Management-2 Division, in this regard on Monday morning from its Secretariat.

Aliza Zaman, nominated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its alliance, submitted her nomination paper by the deadline of 4PM on October 26 for the by-election to reserved women's seat-23 (seat No. 323).

The EC declared her nomination valid after scrutiny in accordance with the announced schedule. As she did not withdraw her candidacy by the deadline of 4PM on Sunday (November 1), her name was published in the final list under Section 12(1) of the Jatiya Sangsad (Reserved Women’s Seats) Election Act, 2004.
