Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has held a meeting with garment owners to resolve the unrest in the garment industry. The meeting began at 9:30 am on Monday at the Secretariat.
Leaders of the ready-made garment industry owners' organizations BGMEA and BKMEA are present in the meeting. On the other hand, Labor and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury and Prime Minister's Advisor Mahdi Amin are also present there.
The meeting is being held after the Prime Minister's directive on Sunday to resolve the workers' movement and unrest in the garment factories. Earlier that day, a new six-member wage board was formed to determine the wages of the workers.
The workers are demanding that the minimum wage be set at Tk 30,000. Protests are underway in various areas around Dhaka and at the entrances of the capital for this demand.
