Indonesia forward Mitchell Baker scored five times, while Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Luke Vickery and Kevin Diks each scored once and Mohammad Shahriar Emon and Farhaan Ali Wahid pulled two back for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh conceded the first goal in the 11th minute when Mitchell Baker opened the scoring through a pass off Ole Romeny from the right.
Bangladesh came close for the first time in the 19th minute when Shahriar Emon dragged the ball near the bar but found no one; however, Indonesia was quick to respond as they scored another in the 20th minute with Baker scoring his brace, backheeling the ball into the net following a brief scramble at the goalmouth.
Mohammad Sohel Rana replaced Shamit Shome in the 26th minute after an injury.
Ridho extended Indonesia’s lead in the 32nd minute while Baker completed his hat-trick four minutes later.
The forward headed home his fourth goal from a long pass, before Hubner scored during first-half stoppage time to go into break 6-1.
Into the second half, Bangladesh kept Indonesia at bay for a long time until substitute Luke Vickery found the net in the 90th minute while Farhaan pulled another one in the first minute of extra time before Kevin Diks headed one and Baker scored his fifth hadn Bangladesh one of their biggest defeats in history.
Earlier, Bangladesh faced their biggest defeats against Iran 9-0 in 1982, Hong Kong 9-1 in 1975, South Korea 9-0 in 1986, Japan 8-0 in 1993, and Syria 8-0 in 2016.
Their most recent loss was a 7-0 defeat to Australia during the FIFA World Cup Qualification in 2023 before this match.
