Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed reserved-seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed (Misty) to resign from her parliamentary post.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh, also known as Saleh Shibly, confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday (1 October).
The decision came after allegations surfaced of Misty’s involvement in an attack, vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur, Dhaka. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The health centre in Mirpur-1 was attacked, vandalised and looted on the night of 24 September. The facility was subsequently demolished.
Misty has denied allegations of involvement in the attack.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday that action would be taken if the investigation found evidence of anyone’s involvement in the attack and vandalism at the Radda centre.
