Collected PhotoBangladesh is expected to begin sending 200,000 workers to Malaysia in phases by the end of September, with the entire process likely to be completed within six months, said state minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters on Sunday following a meeting between Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mohd Suhaida Osman and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan at the Secretariat.
Quoting the Malaysian high commissioner, the state minister said, “The export of manpower from Bangladesh will begin in phases by the end of September and will be completed within the next six months.”
Shahe Alam said that the 200,000 will be sent under the supervision of the listed companies.
In addition, Malaysia will take another 10,000 workers at zero cost, he said.
‘Moreover, they will take 10,000 workers completely free of cost, meaning there will be no expense involved,’ the state minister said.
Asked whether there had been any discussion about Bangladesh’s letter to Malaysia seeking the import of liquefied natural gas, the state minister said no such issue was discussed at the meeting.
