File PhotoThe government today (25 August) transferred 17 senior police officials, including two deputy inspector generals (DIGs), two additional DIGs, 11 superintendents of police (SPs) and two additional SPs.
The transfers were made through three separate notifications issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) DIG Md Humayun Kabir has been made additional director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), while Special Branch DIG M Mahbubur Rashid has been appointed commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
Dhaka Railway Police Additional DIG Md Tofail Ahmed Mia has been transferred as joint commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
In one notification, APBn SP Md Shahadat Hossain has been transferred to the PBI.
Special Branch Special SP MKH Jahangir Hossain, who was transferred to Sylhet Metropolitan Police as deputy commissioner last year, has also been transferred to the PBI.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md Abdur Rahman has been transferred to the PBI, while PBI SP Md Jafar Hossain, who is serving as a supernumerary additional DIG, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
PBI SP Md Abul Kalam Azad has been transferred as commandant of the Gazipur In-Service Training Centre, while its commandant SM Sirajul Huda has been transferred as commandant of the Jhenaidah In-Service Training Centre.
PBI SP Muhammad Khaled Uz Zaman has been transferred to the CID, while PBI SP SM Rafiqul Islam has been transferred to the APBn.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md Riazul Kabir has been transferred to the office of the DIG of Rangpur Range.
In another notification, Police Staff College Additional DIG Md Humayun Kabir, who is serving as a supernumerary DIG, has been transferred to Police Headquarters as an additional DIG.
APBn SP Mohammad Nazmul Alam, who is serving as a supernumerary additional DIG, has been transferred to the DMP as deputy commissioner.
Special Branch Additional SP Md Rezaul Karim, who is serving as a supernumerary SP, has been transferred as additional SP at the Khagrachhari APBn and Specialised Training Centre.
In the third notification, DMP Deputy Commissioner Md Aslam Uddin has been transferred to Police Headquarters on TR duty.
Noakhali Police Training Centre Additional SP Mohammad Nurul Amin, who is serving as a supernumerary SP, has been transferred as additional SP at the Khagrachhari APBn and Specialised Training Centre.
The same notification also cancelled two previous transfer orders. One involved DMP Joint Commissioner Mohammad Kamruzzaman, who was ordered to join Police Headquarters as an additional DIG on 11 December 2025. The other involved DMP Deputy Commissioner Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami, who was ordered to join as SP of Narail on 5 May this year.
