Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Muslim Ummah across the world, including Muslims in Bangladesh, on the occasion of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH).

In a message issued ahead of the occasion, the Prime Minister said the auspicious arrival of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), the Holy Prophet and Messenger of Allah, was a unique and glorious event in the history of human civilisation.

“His advent opened a new horizon of truth and light for humanity. The Prophet (PBUH) called people towards Tawhid and taught them truth, justice, equality, brotherhood, humanity and peace,” he said.

“His life and teachings have become an eternal guide and model for mankind,” the premier added.

Quoting the Holy Quran (Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21), Tarique Rahman said, “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow.”

He said the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) reflected the teachings of the Holy Quran and embodied truthfulness, trustworthiness, justice, forgiveness, tolerance, kindness and altruism.

The Prime Minister said the Prophet (PBUH) upheld the dignity and rights of all people, transcending differences of race, colour, tribe, language and social status. He also emphasised compassion and responsibility towards orphans, the poor, helpless and deprived, while giving special importance to the rights of family members, neighbours, women, children and marginalised people.

“His teachings do not divide people, rather strengthen the bond of brotherhood, harmony and mutual responsibility,” he said.

The PM observed that the world is currently facing various crises, including war, conflict, violence, discrimination, intolerance and moral degradation, which are disrupting peace, security and normal life.

“At such a time, the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on peace, justice, compassion, forgiveness and humanity are very relevant,” he added.

He said following the Prophet’s life and philosophy could help build a peaceful and welfare-oriented society based on justice, responsibility and human values at individual, family, social and state levels.

Referring to the young generation as the future of the country, Tarique Rahman said the life and ideals of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) could inspire young people to stay away from drugs, terrorism, extremism and crime and remain steadfast on the path of truth and justice.

He said the Prophet’s teachings were important not only to the religious and spiritual life of Muslims but also to the development of human and moral values.

“His ideals must be embodied in our personal lives, family lives and social behaviour. We can build a peaceful, just and humane Bangladesh only by strengthening mutual respect, compassion, tolerance and a sense of justice,” the Prime Minister added.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant all the ability to follow the life and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and to establish peace, justice, equality, prosperity and humanity in Bangladesh and across the world.
