A counter-press conference was held in Madhupur, Tangail, rejecting statements made in a prior press conference on August 22 as "false, baseless, motivated, and defamatory."
The event was organized on Monday afternoon (August 24) at the Madhupur Press Club by affected local family members. Bazlur Rashid Khan Chunnu, former principal of Madhupur Shahid Smriti Higher Secondary School and son of the late Afaz Uddin Khan from Pundura Borobazar village, read out the written statement.
In his statement, Bazlur Rashid Khan Chunnu stated that a vested interest group has been spreading false information about them over a land-related dispute. He refuted all allegations made against them during the press conference on August 22, declaring them untrue.
He further alleged that malicious actors are attempting to humiliate his family socially and create confusion among the general public through misinforming statements. He strongly protested these defamatory efforts.
Other speakers at the press conference reiterated that a hostile quarter is deliberately attempting to malign their family’s reputation. They called upon the media to present the true facts of the incident and urged the public not to be misled by false propaganda.
Local figures Enayet Ali Khan, Md. Ibrahim Khan, Monir Khan, Alam, Monu, Md. Rubel Khan, and Majeda were present, alongside local journalists and individuals from various professions.
