All formalities have been completed for hearing of the death reference and appeals in the case involving the rape and murder of child Ramisa.
The hearing in the case is expected to begin after the hearings of the Nusrat murder case in Feni and the Achiya murder case in Magura.
Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, a High Court bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice K M Rasheduzzaman Raja directed the Solicitor to appoint a state defence lawyer for the accused.
Following the directive, Supreme Court lawyer Hafizur Rahman Khan was appointed as the state-appointed counsel on 25 June to represent death-row convicts Sohel Rana and his wife, Swapna Akter.
According to the case, Sohel Rana raped and murdered Ramisa on 19 May. His wife, Swapna Akter, allegedly assisted him in the crime.
Considering the gravity of the offence, Judge Masrur Saleqeen of the Dhaka Children’s Court sentenced both accused to death.
Following the verdict, the two convicts were sent to condemned cells. From there, they filed jail appeals challenging the death sentences.
