The ruling party BNP has collected two nomination papers from the Election Commission office for the Presidential election.
The party collected the nomination papers from the Election Building in Agargaon in the capital on Sunday.
Chief Whip of the National Assembly and BNP vice chairman Nurul Islam Moni collected one nomination paper and the another one was collected by Prime Minister's Advisor and BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Last Thursday, secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced the schedule for the 23rd Presidential election.
He said that the submission of nomination papers will be from 10 am to 4 pm on August 13. The selection of nomination papers will be on August 16.
The last day for withdrawal of candidacy is August 18. The date and time of voting is August 20 from 2 pm to 5 pm, in the Parliament session room.
Earlier, on July 24, the 22nd President Md. Shahabuddin resigned due to illness.
The EC has already published the voters' list for the election. It has 249 voters.
