First-grade admissions at all schools across the country will be conducted through a lottery system instead of admission tests from the 2027 academic year.
The Ministry of Education disclosed the decision in a press release signed by Abdullah Shibli Sadik, senior information officer of the ministry, issued today (6 August).
However, students seeking admission from Class 2 onwards in primary and secondary schools will continue to be selected through admission tests.
According to the notice, no admission test will be held for Class 1 from the 2027 academic year, and all admissions at this level will be completed through a lottery process.
For other classes in primary and secondary schools, the existing system of admission tests will remain in place.
The ministry also announced that the results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will be published on 10 August 2026.
