Five more people have died with measles and the disease-like symptoms across the country during the past 24 hours, bringing Bangladesh’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 758, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
In its latest measles situation report released on Sunday, the DGHS said four children died with measles-like symptoms, while one death was confirmed to have been caused by measles.
The report said 90 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases and 879 suspected infections were recorded during the reporting period.
A total of 849 children were admitted to hospitals over the past 24 hours, while 843 patients were discharged after treatment.
Since March 15, the country has recorded 758 child deaths linked to the outbreak, including 664 deaths among children with measles-like symptoms and 94 deaths from confirmed measles.
According to the DGHS, Bangladesh has so far reported 111,480 suspected measles cases and 13,500 laboratory-confirmed infections since March 15.
Of them, 94,340 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 90,605 have been discharged after receiving treatment.
