Gold prices in Bangladesh have fallen for the second consecutive day, tracking a decline in global prices of pure gold, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced.

The revised prices came into effect at 10am on Tuesday.

Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk3,324 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk221,966. On Monday, Bajus had already cut the price by Tk3,266 per bhori, bringing the total reduction over the past two days to Tk6,590.

According to the latest price list, 21-carat gold now costs Tk211,993 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been set at Tk182,075 per bhori. The price of traditional-method gold has been fixed at Tk148,774 per bhori.

Before the latest adjustment, 22-carat gold was priced at Tk225,290 per bhori. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional-method gold stood at Tk215,142, Tk184,758, and Tk150,932 per bhori, respectively.

Bajus has also reduced silver prices. Under the revised rates, 22-carat silver now costs Tk4,490 per bhori. The new prices will remain in effect until further notice.

The association said jewellery-making charges will be added separately to the listed prices.

However, under the VAT structure for the 2026–27 fiscal year, jewellers will no longer be allowed to collect VAT separately from customers on gold jewellery purchases. Instead, a fixed VAT of Tk2,500 per bhori of gold jewellery has been introduced, replacing the previous 5% VAT levied on the total value.

Bajus also said its existing policy on jewellery exchange and buyback will remain unchanged, with VAT making charges and the value of any gemstones deducted during transactions. It added that a separate decision on VAT for silver jewellery will be announced later.
